I am a head of engineering for Paddy Power Betfair — one of the world’s leading sports betting and gaming operators — where I run the Risk & Trading Technology group. We build the models and sports simulation tools that power PPB’s trading and pricing engines. We also build sophisticated real-time risk management and automation tooling for sports traders.
Check out our open-source work on GitHub. We’re hiring so please mail me if you’re interested in building high-throughput real-time distributed systems pricing billions of pounds worth of markets.
Previously, I was an engineering director with GameStop International. My focus was on building and leading the team that delivers GameStop’s multi-channel capabilities: high-volume ecommerce applications, store-facing commerce capabilities, customer service and fulfillment systems, public and internal APIs, loyalty programmes, and mobile apps.
Occasionally, I also work with small and medium sized businesses to consult on key challenges including organisational design, leadership, and diversity in technology.
I'm also Vice-President of the Irish Powerlifting Federation (an IPF affiliate) and the National Team Manager. I played rugby for a decade as a hooker and still threaten to return every September. From time to time I help to teach powerlifting and strongman seminars for The ABS Gym.
